of a village dating from the time of Jesus,
and a Byzantine monastery whose mosaic
floor features a fisherman’s boat.

To see what a 1st century fisherman's boat
really looks like, stop at nearby Kibbutz
Ginosar, where a museum called Man in
the Galilee houses just such a unique artifact.
The boat, discovered in 1986 just off the
shores of Magdala, is made from 14
different types of wood. Measuring 27 feet
